The Texas Constitution specifies that the court consist of four county commissioners elected by the qualified voters of individual commissioner's precincts and a county judge elected county wide. Some of the duties and authority of the commissioners' court are financial management, public officers and employees, regulatory matters, property acquisition, buildings and maintenance of roads and bridges in the county.
