1 OHIO STATE HIGHWAY PATROL RETIREES' ASSOCIATION 1st. Quarterly Meeting - February 28, 2015 I. ATTENDANCE There were (50) members in attendance at the 1st. Quarterly Meeting that was held at the International Palms Resort and Conference Center in Orlando, Florida. II. OPENING OF BUSINESS MEETING President Gil Jones called the meeting to order at 10:02 AM. The Pledge of Allegiance was deferred to to the Luncheon opening. III. ROLL CALL OF THE EXECUTIVE BOARD Secretary Kevin Titler called the roll call of the Executive Board and present were President Gil Jones, 1st. Vice President Lou Gliozzi, Secretary Kevin Titler, Immediate Past President Butch Collins, Superintendent Paul Pride, Findlay Alternate Rep. Ken Walerius, Bucyrus Rep. Tim Mahoney, Piqua Rep. Dave Stevenson, Columbus Rep. Bob Mills, Cambridge Rep. Dave Peters, Wilmington Rep. Jerry Anson. (A quorum of (11) officers were present.) IV. OFFICERS REPORTS Secretary Kevin Titler was called to read the minutes of the October 11, 2014 meeting. Dale Cline made a motion to waive the reading of the minutes of the last meeting. Seconded by Dennis Bueno and passed by a voice vote. Treasurer - Financial Report Immediate Past President Butch Collins provided a financial report as of February 28, 2015 for Treasurer Brian Landis. Anniversary Account $ 84, *(Anniversary Account is NOT part of the "regular" funding accounts) Keith Miller made a motion to accept the Treasurer's Report as given. Seconded by Dave Stevenson and approved by a voice vote. Attorney - Legal Issues President Gil Jones for Attorney Lora Manon, nothing to report. (1)

2 V. REPORTS FROM STANDING COMMITTEES Membership & Credentials Committee: President Gil Jones, nothing to report. Resolutions Committee: Bob Carson, nothing to report. VI. REPORTS FROM SPECIAL COMMITTEES Communication Committee: Immediate Past President Butch Collins provided the following statistics for the TroopertoTrooper.com and OSHPRetiree.org websites. Historical Committee: President Gil Jones for Shel Senek, nothing to report. Retirement System: Retirement System Director Mark Atkeson reported that System investments for both 2014 and early 2015 were positive. Should all things go as planned the Retirement System office will be moving into the Mettler - Toledo Building at 1900 Polaris Parkway, Suite # 201, Columbus, Ohio on April 3, Plans are to sell the current Retirement System building. Retirement System Board Update: Larry Davis and J.P. Allen reiterated the comments made earlier by Director Mark Atkeson. (2)

3 Active Ranks Update: Colonel Paul Pride spoke about the current state, direction and recent accomplishments of the Division. He said years 2013 and 2014 were the two safest years on Ohio highways since the annual number of fatalities has been recorded. He also invited everyone to attend the 2nd. Annual Retiree Cookout to be held at the Patrol Academy on Friday, June 12, 2015 at 11:00 AM Snowbird Committee: Keith Miller advised that (20) new attendees participated in the activities at the 2015 Snowbird Reunion. He publicly thanked Bob Booker and Steve Brode for helping to arrange this year's event. He also agreed to host the 2016 Snowbird Reunion at the same location in Orlando, Florida. The prospective dates are March 3rd. thru March 6, Jack Walsh mentioned that the reduced number of available elevators at this years event was a severe nuisance and probable safety factor. It was agreed that the hotel should have to guarantee in writing that more elevators will be available before we agree to return to this same venue in Keith Miller explained the difficulty of hosting a Snowbird Reunion with only the $ "Seed Money" that is furnished by the Retirees' Association and must be reimbursed, to initiate contracts and pay early expenses. After discussion Ernie Wilson made a motion to grant $ to the host of future Snowbird Reunions to help pay for early expenses with the condition that receipts of expenses are provided for review. Seconded by Dennis Bueno and passed by a voice vote. VII. SPECIAL ORDERS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS Reports of Ailing Members & Members on the Mend: Rob Hartsell advised that Dave Sturtz's most recent medical diagnosis was much more encouraging than what was initially reported. Dave Peters advised that Delmer Dunlap's wife is currently undergoing cancer treatment. Dennis Bueno advised that Warren Davies recently underwent hip replacement surgery. Presidents Pins: President Gil Jones presented President's Pins to the following members for continuing support to the Retirees' Association. Immediate Past President Richard "Butch" Collins, Jim "Skip" Spurrier, Rob Hartsell and Dennis "Denny" Bueno. VIII. UNFINISHED BUSINESS President Gil Jones, no unfinished business.. IX. NEW BUSINESS Distinguished Retiree Award: President Gil Jones announced that Bill Costas was the first Distinguished Retiree Award winner. Bill and his wife are heavily involved with both his community and church. The award is present annually by the Ohio State Highway Patrol. Don Slemmer made a motion to donate $ annually to help pay for the award. Seconded by Jerry Anson and passed by a voice vote. (3)

4 Annual Retiree Cookout: President Gil Jones announced that the 2nd. Annual Retiree Cookout will be held at the Patrol Academy on Friday, June 12, 2015 at 11:00 AM. The event will be hosted by Colonel Paul Pride and everyone is invited to attend. J.P. Allen made a motion to donate $ to help pay the expenses incurred by the event. Seconded by Tom Ariss and passed by a voice vote. X. GOOD OF THE ASSOCIATION President Gil Jones, nothing to report. XI. DATE, TIME AND LOCATION OF THE NEXT MEETING The next Quarterly Business Meeting will be held at the Patrol Academy on Friday, May 8, 2015 at 10:30 AM. in conjunction with the Memorial Service. XII. ADJOURNMENT & BENEDICTION Ray Smith made a motion to adjourn. Seconded by Bob Carson and passed with a voice vote. The Business Meeting was adjourned at 10:51 AM. The Benediction was held at the conclusion of the Luncheon and was led by Dave Peters. (4)
