1 OHIO STATE GRANGE PRESENT POLICY: CITIZENSHIP AND PUBLIC AFFAIRS RESOLUTIONS: 1. Supports petitioning the U. S Postal Service to celebrate the 200th Birthday of Ohio by issuing a stamp commemorating this event. 2. Supports legislation that would require radio stations to announce the city and state along with the call letters that the broadcast is coming from. 3. Supports federal regulations requiring that all for-profit businesses desiring to conduct telephone solicitation be required to list their official name in full or abbreviated form and their telephone number on caller identification boxes in order that customers may either refuse to answer such calls or return calls to request that their names be removed from further solicitation. 4. Supports a change in U. S. Postal regulations that would permit the delivery of all first-class pieces of mail to the mail box of the correct address if within the same area covered by that post office rather than returning it to the sender. 5. Supports asking our state legislators to require that the explanation of issues, in the voting booth, are presented in large, easy to read type. The form presenting an issue for marking the ballot has space for a much larger type. 6. Supports forming a joint legislative committee to study cemetery laws, and that they present before the Ohio Senate and House of Representatives, some revisions to the Ohio Revised Code on cemeteries. 7. Supports legislation requiring advertising soliciting funds for charities include normal size print the percentage used for business-operations and the percentage used to benefit the named cause RESOLUTIONS: 1. Opposes the sale of any information acquired from Ohio drivers licenses to private entities. 2. Supports working with state legislators to petition our judicial system to rule in favor of retaining our state motto: With God All Things Are Possible. 3. Supports that all Grange deputies see that the delegates receive the Grange Policy Book before the convention RESOLUTIONS: 1. Urges the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio and the Ohio General Assembly to stop the charging of all switching fees, when customers leave their company.

2 2. Supports a fairer election by requesting that no election results be released to the public until all polls are closed nationwide. 3. Opposes the McCain-Feingold Campaign Reform Bill which would prohibit organizations from being able to challenge a candidate s position on issues within 60 days of an election. 4. Proposes that September 11 of every year be proclaimed the National Day of Prayer and Remembrance in the United States of America. 5. Endorses the Ohio People s Bicentennial as an important way to make sure the lives and ideals of all Ohioans are celebrated as Ohio marks its anniversary of Statehood. 6. Supports preserving the motto In God We Trust on all public buildings, our currency, and as part of our organization s rituals. 7. Opposes any action that would eliminate the penny. 8. Supports a statement that the Ohio State Grange goes on record with a strong statement of support for our President, Congress and other national leaders and urges other state Granges to issue similar statements. 9. Supports legislation that will protect our flag RESOLUTIONS: 1. Recommends state and national leaders support and allow the phrase under God to be used in the Pledge of Allegiance. 2. Supports keeping rural and Saturday postal deliveries as they are with no changes. 3. Supports legislation that would remove the residency requirements restricting qualified personnel from staffing emergency departments such as firefighters and paramedics. 4. Recommends legislation requiring that all ATV s be licensed and insured. 5. Supports a change in the Ohio Revised Code to make all human burial sites legally human no matter how long ago they were buried and believes that all human graves be protected under severe penalty of law from desecration or destruction. Also supports that any historical evidence that indicates possible burials of a veteran shall require the state of Ohio to terminate all permits and contracts with any person, entity, company, business, or corporation who fails to allow the state of Ohio, descendants of the veterans, the Ohio Historical Society, and any county historical society time to investigate and preserve the original locations of such veterans in perpetuity. 6. Opposes the institution of any recruitment of citizens to spy for the government and circumvent the right of all citizens to insist on a search warrant. 7. Supports the passage of the 2002 American Battlefield Preservation Act.

3 8. Support the concept that those responsible for the financial reports of an entity that falsify records should be prosecuted. 9. Encourages the military to buy American made products RESOLUTIONS: 1. Supports procedures to overhaul the operations of the U. S. Immigration and Naturalization Service with the goal of providing fair and uniform treatment for everyone served by that agency. 2. Support fair assistance guidelines for state funded daycare. 3. Encourages our government to improve security, rather than to weaken the Air Marshall Program. 4. Supports law that provides adequate military pay. 5. Encourages the legislature to pass/enforce laws on noise pollution. 6. Supports the need to research the electric grid to prevent more widespread power failures. 7. Supports both public and private agencies, businesses, and municipalities that have curb cuts on their property to develop standard painting requirements of slanted surface at curb cuts, so that slanted surfaces are visible to walkers who may stumble from lack of balance or an uneven surface. 8. Supports the sexual predator habitual sex offender notification as required by the current revision of Megan s Law. 9. Encourages the proper authorities to set up a simple, inexpensive procedure whereby qualified individuals can give a good home to a needy child. 10. Supports legislation to restore the identity and credit rating of individuals who have been victims of identity theft. Rescind present policy: 1. Policy to petition the U. S. Postal Service to celebrate Ohio s 200th birthday in the year 2003 by issuing a stamp commemorating the event. 2. Policy to endorse the Ohio People s Bicentennial as an important way to insure that lives and ideals of all Ohioans are celebrated as Ohio marks its anniversary of Statehood RESOLUTIONS: 1. Supports the Federal Marriage Amendment, which eliminates same sex marriage. 2. Encourages our government not to consider postponing national elections for any reason.

4 2005 RESOLUTIONS: 1. Supports legislation against the ruling of the U. S Supreme court and not allow the government to take private property by Eminent Domain, and give to another private developer for private gain RESOLUTIONS: 1. Supports working with the telecommunications coalitions to encourage an increase in the number of towers in a large amount of rural America. 2. Encourages a comprehensive investigation of Agent Orange EFFECTS ON ALL Military Personnel exposed to Agent Orange. 3. Encourages the proper use of eminent domain for the purpose for which it was intended RESOLUTIONS: 1. Support legislation to pass a new crime bill, which states that elected officials convicted of felonies (crimes) while holding public office be stripped of their pensions. 2. Supports the Ohio State Grange Legislative Director review all resolutions prior to convention in order to indicated whether a resolution is covered under present policy. 3. Support legislation that mandates all United States flags be made in the United States of America RESOLUTIONS: 1. Request that the Board of Directors of the Federal Communications Commission, (FCC) adopt quantitative goals, based on current technologies, for reducing total black out zones of cell phone service for Ohio s agricultural areas. 2. Urge the Ohio representatives to Congress to enact rules to eliminate earmarks and pork barrel spending. 3. Support any legislation that will limit or prevent STOLI insurance and viatical settlement policies. 4. Encourage written information on new driving laws be given to drivers before renewing driver s licenses RESOLUTIONS: 1. Opposes the Waxman-Markey Bill and any other legislation with respect to the Cap and Trade. 2. Opposes any increase in taxes and/or any decreases in tax credits (ie: depletion allowance) on gas and oil production. 3. Supports legislation to require all bills to be available for public review for 72 hours prior to a vote.

5 4. Opposes any legislation to allow the establishment of casinos in Ohio RESOLUTIONS: 1. Urges members to write their congress members to take a firm stand against the elimination of cost of living increases to Social Security benefits and to reduce the cuts to Medicare. 2. Supports the Arizona Immigration Law. 3. Supports legislation that Congress cannot spend Social Security money that people have paid in towards their retirement. 4. Supports lobbying all levels of legislature to continue the Ohio State University Extension Service Programs in all Ohio counties. 5. Supports legislation to ban the use of water fluoridation in the United States. 6. Supports Congress tightening guidelines and regulations on obtaining personal and credit background checks using personal websites such as MySpace and Facebook RESOLUTIONS: 1. Support legislation that would require congressional members, upon leaving that elected office to: receive no pension from the federal government; all Congressional retirement funds will move to the Social Security System with individual former congressional members purchasing their own retirement plan and receive no additional health care from the federal government, participating in the same health care system as the American people. 2. Supports corresponding to all major networks and let them know that we oppose them leaving any words out of the Pledge of Allegiance. 3. Oppose the opening of a bar in the Statehouse basement. 4. Encourages elected officials in the House of Representatives and the Senate of the United States of America put aside their political aspirations and cast their votes for the best interests of the citizens of the United States of America. 5. Supports a law to stop the circumvention of the no-call lists by the use of 800 phone numbers and lobby for laws to stop the telemarketers calling cell phones. 6. Urge all members to continuously write or their legislators to get the message across that the United States government cannot borrow money to give away and urge the government to take care of those who have suffered natural disasters here at home before addressing disasters in other countries. 7. Supports passing legislation to have veteran s information put on driver s license and other forms of identification. 8. Reaffirms its support for the Social Security system.

6 9. Supports Congressional term limits. 10. Supports laws making English Ohio s official State Language RESOLUTIONS: 1. Supports stricter regulations for both dog auctions and puppy mill breeding facilities in Ohio. 2. Opposes any alterations to the Great Seal of Ohio. 3. Supports the expansion of high speed internet into all rural areas. 4. Encourages legislation to require political organizations to comply with FTC s National Do Not Call List. 5. Supports legislation that would place a limit of 75 days before any election candidates and their supporters can run any campaign ad in any form on radio, television, internet or print RESOLUTIONS: 1. The Grange takes a strong stand to return our American Governing Body, to our early historical foundation based on the Bible and the Constitution of the United States of America. 2. Encourages Senators and Representatives to take a 5% pay cut to help balance the budget. 3. Support the elimination of the automatic federal baseline budgeting yearly increases. 4. Urges passage of a law that restricts an insurance company from dropping a person for three years following a claim that is no fault of the policy holder. 5. Urge its members to carefully read the fine print on all documents, especially insurance policies. 6. Urge our Legislators to take steps to further reduce welfare fraud. 7. Opposes any path to citizenship as it rewards illegal aliens for breaking U. S. law and opposes these same people being eligible for social programs like welfare. 8. Support requiring all public officials to obey and live under the same laws that they require others to live by. 9. Support federal legislation that restricts the U. S. Postal Service from financial sponsorship of sporting events and other non-postal activities.

7 2014 RESOLUTIONS: 1. Encourages the Ohio Legislature to introduce and pass legislation that would outlaw gas chambers in animal shelters, and recommends that National Grange support any legislation, such as HR208, that will oppose the use of gas chambers in animal shelters. 2. Supports the availability of over the air free TV. 3. Encourages the Social Security Administration to update their procedures to minimize the length of time between initial application and receiving disability benefits. 4. Opposes any and all resolutions or legislation identifying breed specific dogs as vicious or dangerous.
