I have been GRS of my home group, coffee maker, greeter, and librarian. I have the willingness and ability to act as chairperson of H & I. In Loving Service, Nick M. Motion Sutton W. Librarian 31 years clean, prior vice chair of HASC, as well as many other positions in other areas, region, and FRCNA. August 2017 Secretary s report The cost of the minutes this month was $ This is far above budgeted cost of $ We have many who are requesting a hard copy of the minutes. The way to reduce this cost is to have the minutes ed if possible. Many of you have been submitting your reports via goggle docs, I am asking that you your reports or turn them in today so I can compile them. A simple , doc, or PDF file will be fine. I will also take handwritten reports, which will them be typed to reduce the cost of the minutes. I will need a copy of your report today so I can begin to compile the minutes. Please forward all GSR reports to me today by passing them forward. The contact sheet had many errors and problems. I need you to see me today if you did not receive the minutes in the manner you prefer. Check the contact sheet carefully before passing it along to ensure your contact information is correct. Please make all corrections on the back. Also, please fill out the GSR form with your contact information on it. Thank you for allowing me to serve. Shelia P. Heartland Area RCM Report for August 2017 I attended the Florida Region Subcommittee on July 16th, I submitted a motion to be reimbursed in the amount of $ for the rooms at July's RSC weekend. I provided the treasurer with receipts. RCMs were asked to review the track changes in the Guide to Florida Regional Service. I ll be working on that between now and the next region subcommittee. Area Support: What do you do if a trusted servant relapses? - Reach out, try to get a hold of the person, there is a bigger matter at hands - Add something to policy/guidelines that says relapse causes removal from the position - If there is a clean time requirement for the position, they no longer meet it Videotaping and pictures from FRCNA posted on Social Media - Set up a designated place to take pictures at events - Create a do s and dont s list - Ask everyone in the picture if they re okay with being in the picture and what you are intending to do with the picture and make sure each person is in agreement - Set the correct privacy settings this is accepting that it s self-responsibility FRCNA: The board feels that overall FRCNA 36 was very successful and the majority of the feedback was positive. However, there were a few things that need to be addressed. - Did not allow areas, regions, etc. to place information at any designated location until Sunday

12 - No Spanish speaking meetings - Did not place hard copy of the program in every registration packet Newcomer donations amounted to $2, Wow! Incredible. They are actively looking for pre-con and con logo artwork and are accepting speaker submissions for FRNCA 37. See for more information. Old business: Proposal ( ): To have the administrative workgroup schedule and coordinate the selection of a hotel for Florida Regional Service Committee (FRSC) Weekends with the Florida regional convention of NA. Consensus Reached/Unanimous Decision New Business: We have one new proposal going back to groups this month: Proposal ( ) Maker: HR Proposal: Tie RSC stipend to Standard IRS rates. Rationale: The IRS sets maximum rates for travel. The rate adjusts each calendar year. The 2017 rate is $189 per day, which includes the hotel, taxes, tolls, and mileage. The 2016 rate was $185. Although mileage rates have gone down, room rates are $30-$50 more per night that they were when the $150 stipend was set. Increasing the stipend has come up several times on the floor, but no proposal has been made to date. Financial Impact: For the rest of 2017, this would increase the stipend $39, up to from $150. The current fixed rate of $150 in no longer adequate to cover room and travel for one day. Tying the stipend to the IRS rate allows adjustments without having to change the GTFRS each year. GTFRS: Each member of the Administration Workgroup and Resource Coordinators shall receive a stipend of one day at the Standard IRS rate. If you have any questions about this proposal, please feel free to contact me. Elections: FRSC Board - all were re-elected (Ron M., Stephanie W., Dawn E., and Cindy S.) Fellowship Development Co- Leader - Ernest E. was nominated and elected Two HRP Positions - Three candidates were vetted and nominated by HRP: Belynda N. - Fran B. - Ramon B. Belynda N. and Fran B. were elected. The following positions are open and elections will take place at the July RSC: Resource Coordinators Alternate Secretary Alternate Treasurer RSO Board If you are interested in running for any of those positions, fill out a HRP form ( ), make sure you meet the qualifications ( FRSCGuideJuly2016.pdf) and attend the RSC weekend in July. WCNA 37: The Magic is Still Real - will be held in Orlando, FL on August 30th - September 2nd, Registration and hotel info should be available some time in August Visit for more information and to subscribe for updates. - Looking into pre and post convention cruises - IP on mental health/mental illness and a new daily meditation book passed on June 1st. Reports about the input gathered will be provided in future issues of NAWS News. More about these projects can be found at and - World Service has launched a new contribution portal. Over the past few years, people have asked for a history of personal and group/service committee contributions. This new portal will allow contributors to see their past contributions, dating back to June 2015, and keep track of any new ones going forward. As always, all personal data will be held securely by the payment gateway, to ensure the privacy of financial information. For questions regarding the portal or about contributions in general, please contributionquestions@na.org. You can access the new portal at - Another thing NAWS wants to announce is that the PR pamphlet, Narcotics Anonymous and Persons Receiving Medication-Assisted Treatment, is at last available. The schedule was reviewed and the meeting was adjourned with the Serenity Prayer. Respectfully submitted: Merle D. Activities Activities met on the third Monday, July 17, 2017 at St. Albans Episcopal in Auburndale, Fl. There were 13 members present. We opened with the Serenity Prayer, 7 th tradition, and Activities purpose. We went to the beach on July 23 rd. About 60 people came out to enjoy the event. It rained the first half of the day but we made the most out of it with having a gratitude meeting. When the rain stopped we started grilling, swimming, and playing in mud puddles. At 1 PM we have another meeting and took in $14 in 7 th tradition. It turned out to be a great event at this beach. On August 6 th went to the Ray s baseball game. 65 tickets were sold with about 50 of us in attendance. We were able to donate several tickets to new comers. We made it the jumbo tron several times during the game. The winning homerun landed just 20 feet from our seats. Which of course, added to the fun and fellowship that we all enjoyed. On August 6 th, we held a workshop regarding social media and an atmosphere of recovery. There were 20 members present. All the information discussed will be sent on to world for future literature. Thank you to all who participated. On August 26, 2017, Saturday, at Rotary Park in Winter Haven, we will be having another Sports Day beginning at 10 AM to 1 PM we will be having an open discussion meeting. 14 away. Plus, a chance to pie the Activities members in the FACE! HACNA will be running the concessions again this year. Please come out and join us in celebrating recovery! I am requesting checks for expenses for Celebration. Check for $200 for a refundable security deposit payable to Auburndale Parks and rec. A check payable to Auburndale Parks and Rec. for the remaining rent on Ariana Yacht Club $160. Check payable to Sherri Kirkland for $250 for decorations and incidentals for Celebration. A check payable to Matt for $100 for DJ of the Celebration dance. A check to Sherri Kirkland for beach day expenses which went above the $150 previously issued, in the amount of $ In Loving Service, Sherri K. HACNA We met on Monday 8/7/17. The meeting was opened with the Serenity Prayer and the 12 traditions were read. There were 10 members in attendance. On behalf of the committee, I would like to thank everyone who came to the Chicken Dinner and helped make it a successful event. Topics that were discussed included: number of registrations & banquets at this time, t-shirt sales, confirmation or entertainment, and the sale of food and drinks at celebration. Also, Bryan expressed interest in needing people to speak at and chair workshops. I attended the Funcoast ASC yesterday to get feedback concerning possible merging of 3 areas into one large convention. Those areas being: Heartland, Funcoast, and Bay area. I did this in response to our RCM s report last month in which he stated the Funcoast RCM had expressed their interest in such a merger. I will contact someone from the Bay area and will attend next month s Funcoast ASC to see the results of asking GSR s to poll their homegroups to see what type of support the area would have in such a merger. At this time I would like to ask all GSR s to poll their homegroups for their interest and bring that back to next HASC. Just a reminder, that we still have a few of the free banquet available. To receive one of these you must register for convention and also confirm your hotel room. Contact Tim S. with your confirmation number and he will put you on the list. In Loving Service, Larry S. Service Learning Day We are continuing to gather and generate the materials to be used. We will meet soon to go over it. In Loving Service, Andy G.
