3 MEET THE POLL PAD 3 PROCEDURES Power Button 2. Home Button 3. Stand Arm 4. Poll Pad Base 5. Camera 6. Stylus Holding Slot 7. ID Tray
4 POLL PAD SETUP 4 PROCEDURES ATTACH ARM To attach the stand arm to the ipad shell, press the buttons on the side of the arm and place in circular opening. Release buttons and spin the arm until you hear a click. ATTACH ID CLIP Attach the ID tray to the ipad using the mounting clips. Once attached, insert stylus into the holding slot. Adjust the ipad to a suitable angle. You are now ready to begin. CONNECT ARM TO BASE Take arm and place into Poll Pad base. Once attached rotate ipad making sure the camera is on top.
5 A Few Reminders: 5 If the ipad will not power, For Additional questions speak POLL PAD SETUP PROCEDURES plug into outlet immediately. with your Chief Inspector or call your Election Headquarters. Power On Poll Pad Press and hold the power button on the top left edge of the unit and the home button at the same time until you see the Apple icon, then release buttons. The ipad will power on, and the Poll Pad application with launch automatically. Home Screen Checklist: Name of Jurisdiction Election Name and Date Polling Place Location is Correct (Most Important) Check-in Count = 0 Battery Life is Close to Full (90% or greater) Application Launches As the Poll Pad is powering on, you will see a blue screen with a moving icon. When the application launches, you will be directed to your county s Poll Pad homepage.
6 A Reminder: You have two options when processing voters, scan barcode SCAN BARCODE 6 or manual entry, It s important to note that only two forms of identification barcodes can be scanned by poll pad, a valid driver s license or State ID card. For all other valid forms of identification use manual entry. Select SCAN BARCODE Place ID in ID Tray with barcode facing camera. Barcode will focus and Poll Pad will alert when match is found. NOTE: If no barcode is available reference previous section. Confirm Voter Status Poll worker verifies voter s information and ballot style, if all is correct press Accept. Position ID Confirm voter s information and that voter status is Active. If correct rotate screen for voter signature and PRESS Accept.
7 SCAN BARCODE 7 Processing Confirmation Voter has been successfully processed. Follow polling place protocol to direct voter to ballot table.
8 A Reminder: You have two options when processing voters, scan barcode MANUAL ENTRY 8 or manual entry, It s important to note that only two forms of identification barcodes can be scanned by poll pad, a valid driver s license or State ID card. For all other valid forms of identification use manual entry. Select MANUAL ENTRY To begin voter check-in, select Manual Entry. Check Accuracy of: Confirm voter s name and select to open record. Voter Lookup Type the first three letters of the voter s first and voter s last name and PRESS SEARCH.
9 MANUAL ENTRY 9 Confirm voter s information and that voter status is Active. If correct rotate screen for voter signature and PRESS Accept. Voter has been successfully processed. Follow polling place protocol to direct voter to ballot table. Poll worker verifies voter s information and ballot style, if all is correct press Accept.
10 ADVANCED SEARCH, VOTER NOT FOUND 10 Voter Assistance If voter is not found using Manual Entry press Advanced Search. SEARCH BY Date of birth, address, license number, etc. If voter is found using Advanced Search, follow same protocol as manual entry to process voter.
11 FIND A PRECINCT 11 Precinct Button If voter is still not found using Manual Entry or Advanced Search options you can use the Find a Precinct button located in the MENU bar. Direct Voter This will direct voter to their correct polling location. Enter Address Enter the voter s residential address (where the voter lives) and press SEARCH.
12 ABSENTEE STATUS or ABS 12 Search for Voter If voter applied for an absentee ballot their name will be highlighted and Absentee will appear in their record. Press on the voter record. POPUP A popup will appear reading, This voter has applied for an absentee ballot. To vote today at this polling location he or she must vote by provisional ballot. Direct the voter to the Provisional Ballot officer.
13 INACTIVE VOTER 13 Inactive Voter Search for voter. If voter is Inactive under their name and address it will state that they must complete an update form, and their voter status will be marked Inactive. Processing Confirmation Voter has been successfully processed. Follow polling place protocol to direct voter to ballot table. Update Form The voter will need to fill out a Voter s Re-identification /Update Form in order to vote. Once completed the poll worker will check the box beside Voter Update Form Complete before continuing to confirmation page.
14 VOTER REQUIRES ASSISTANCE 14 Voter Assistance If a voter requires assistance, an ASSISTANCE REQUIRED box is found on the poll worker confirmation page. Poll worker checks assistance required box, a pop-up will instruct the assistant to sign in the box below. Once signed poll worker presses CONTINUE. Processing Confirmation Voter has been successfully processed. Follow polling place protocol to direct voter to ballot table. Poll Worker Verification The poll worker then verifies voter s information and ballot style, if all is correct press Accept.
15 MARKING SUPPLEMENTAL ABSENTEE 15 Information Button Once you have received the morning absentee Supplemental list use Manual Entry to enter voter s name. Once you find voter s record press the information button located to the left of their last name. Mark Voter Press MARK VOTER ABSENTEE. Extra Functions Enter extra Functions password provided to you by the county.
16 MARKING SUPPLEMENTAL ABSENTEE 16 Confirm Marked Voter Press YES that you wish to mark voter Absentee and touch anywhere outside the box. Verification Verify that voter record has been marked Absentee and continue.
17 TROUBLESHOOTING 17 Poll Pad Unresponsive If the Poll Pad is unresponsive when tapping the screen or pressing the home button, ask the voter to wait for a moment. Press and hold the home button and power button simultaneously for nine seconds and release. The Apple logo will apear, and the Poll Pad application will relaunch. Voter Not Found Check that names are typed correctly. Use fewer letters of the voter s name, search by other fields, or look for alternate spelling of first names (Bob Vs. Robert). Still having trouble? Refer voter to the Election Judge to Chief Inspector within the polling place or call Election headquarters. Barcode Not Scanning Not lined up properly: Place ID barcode within the frame on the Poll Pad screen Lightning glare: Adjust the ID or move the stand and resume. Barcode is damaged. Voter is not registered. DMV record does not match the Voter Registration record (example: Bill/William).
