Separate chapters focus on the obstacles and opportunities women encounter as party leaders, presidents and prime ministers, cabinet ministers, governors/premiers/first ministers, and modern (non-monarchical) ceremonial executives. Data include parliamentary records, government documents, public opinion polls, news sources, leaders memoirs and diaries, extensive elite interviews and field work conducted by the author in all six countries.
