CURRENT PROJECTS Ideal point estimation (in two-dimensional ideological space) of roll call votes in the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM), with Emre Erdogan. This work addresses the absence of a consistent, reliable, and Turkish framework to describe political and partisan cleavages in Turkey. Arrested Democratic Development, with Evren Celik Wiltse. An edited volume that discusses the failure of Turkish democracy to consolidate beyond a decidedly illiberal state from a variety of perspectives: political culture, party structures, polarization, civilmilitary relations, and voting behavior. The Endorsement Calculus. Utilizing the general framework established by candidate emergence literature and the data aggregated by Cohen, Karol, Noel, and Zaller (heavily appended), I am modeling the internal calculus that incumbent members of congress and governors use to decide whether or not to endorse a candidate in their party s presidential nomination contest.
