Old Business Water Bottle Initiative Voting led by Shayna o Cawthon moves to amend Ø Change point 3 to say that every residence hall will be provided with a water cooler Ø Halls should encourage use of disposable water bottles over single use disposable cups Ø JRB Point of clarification: What was the original wording? It said that every hall had water coolers Ø JRB moves to close discussion, seconded by Cawthon Ø Vote: 17 yes, 0 no, 0 abstain Ø Amendment passes XVII.

o Discussion on entire piece Ø Degraff: Moves that we reconsider motion because a lot of halls have water bottles left over from Irma and it would be a waste move resolution to spring semester BLG Before we vote to push it back, is there a way we could find out if all halls have water bottles that have been stored? NCC Could table it until next meeting. Do we have a second to table legislation to next semester? No second, motion dies Ø BLG - Motion to table vote until next meeting and require Vice Presidents to find out how many water bottles each hall has Tim point of clarification: She meant single use water bottles BLG we should wait until next week to get information on how many the halls have Seconded by Salley Cawthon: Could there be other uses for the water bottles? JRB How would we find out how many water bottles there are? v Answer talk to your head staff JRB There are only a few cases for our whole complex Cawthon: We have clean water from the tap and other places don t, so plastic water bottles are more essential to other places. The water bottles would be better off donated. Degraff: We have thirty cases of water left so us donating that would

be kind of foolish. Who s paying for the water coolers? v NCC That would be discussed after AD: There s still a possibility of other hurricanes so it could be beneficial to keep water bottles. However there are people still suffering in Puerto Rico and such and we could donate the water ADF: Bottles were purchased by the university and I don t know if we have clearance to donate them Ø Deviney: Moves to table to next week, seconded by Salley, no dissent Ø Point of information from guest: Bottles could be donated to FSU food pantry Ø NCC: Need to go to Head Staff and Hall Councils and discuss any further amendments or additions as to what will happen to water bottles we already possess By-Laws Voting Ø ADF: Moves to vote on by laws, seconded by Deviney 20 yes, 0 no, 0 abstain Jimbo s True Seminole Tailgate o Game is a noon game, tailgate will start at 9 AM o Hall Councils will be assigned either to setup, work, or closing o Will be ordering food and food will be provided o Free schedule needed from 9 AM to noon o Absences must be ed to Kendall more than 48 hours in advance with legitimate excuse o Hall Councils cannot choose time SAACURH T-Shirt Drive o Donate your shirts for the T shirt drive

Inter-Residence Hall Council Board of Directors October 16, :30 PM XXVI. Call to Order (8:30) XVII. Roll Call VIII. SGA a. LGBTQ Study Hall (Tonight at 7) -- Pride Walk as one (Service Hours) 10/29 8:30AM WSU Building our Community -- BSU XXIX. Old Business Water Bottle Initiative Voting o No new amendments o Cawthon: Has 15 cases of water left, believes we shouldn t wait to donate if we decide to o Degraff 1: Told by Hall staff that we can t donate waters because they were donated to us o Cawthon: Could we donate to FSU food pantry since it is part of FSU? o BLG 2: We can t donate them to any campus organization o NCC: You need to only consider if you are okay not being able to use Hall Council funds to buy water bottles o Degraff 1: Would we have to purchase water coolers or would they be purchased for us? Ø NCC: Discussion for later date Ø ADF: No line item in IRHC budget for coolers and we can t consider the bill without knowing what will happen to water bottles o JRB: What would we do with them if we can t donate them? Ø NCC: Would be a discussion for a later date Ø Advisor: These are technically state property, so they can t donate. You could

state that waters we currently own could be used but once those are gone no more further purchases o BLG 2: Resolution doesn t say anything about using water bottles we already have, only says we can t purchase them Ø NCC: It does say use and purchasing recommend amendment striking word use in that part o AD: Moves to amend legislation to strike through use and Ø Amendment passes o Cawthon: Resolution is still titled banning of plastic water bottles, does that still affect it? Ø NCC: No it would not o BLG 1: What would happen if water bottles are donated to University Housing again? Ø AD: If it s not being purchased it doesn t fall under the bill o Degraff 1: Going back to the water coolers, if it s not in the IRHC budget would it be a mandate for each Hall Council to purchase their own? Ø ADF: If they have a desire to use water they would have to have the coolers, but otherwise it wouldn t be necessary Ø NCC: As legislation stands now it would say either we have to provide them or they have to buy them but we could propose an amendment Ø Writer 1: We had water coolers available to us last year. We also didn t have issues providing water to residents for programs and you ll have plenty of money to buy this based on last year s budgets Ø ADF: There s only one water cooler in the closet o Salley: Could we amend the budget to provide the water coolers? Ø ADF: No

o Degraff 1: Last year we had 15 cents left in our budget o JRB 1: So we would have to buy the water coolers? Ø Director: Under the current legislation yes it would o BLG 1: Moves to amend text of will be provided for water coolers to will be encouraged to provide Ø Cawthon dissents o Degraff 1: Calls for 2 minute recess Ø Passes o Come back to discussion of BLG S amendment Ø Advisor: More Hall Councils have water coolers than many are currently aware of, and Hall Councils share resources a lot. Could create list of which halls have one and could be contacted to borrow them. Ø Sustainable Campus: Legislation is not trying to limit, it is trying to acknowledge that IRHC is trying to become more aware of how water bottles are impacting the environment and are overpriced. By passing this, you can learn from it and see the power of your purchasing power and help you guys Ø Salley moves to end discussion Ø Vote: Passes unanimously o AD: Moves to vote on legislation Ø 18 for, 3 dissent, 0 abstain Ø Resolution passes Budget Voting o ADF: Moves to end discussion and move to voting Ø Cawthon dissents because the budget for EOMs is different every month and want to discuss why Ø ADF withdraws motion

o ADF: Reason for amounts being different is because they are based on past years budgets, money is not always used as is in the budget o Cawthon: What is usually paid for at the EOM meetings? Ø AD: Typically provide some type of food and activity o BLG 1: Can you provide insight on source of private funds? Ø ADF: Come from private fundraising done by IRHC o Salley 2: Moves to close discussion o Discussion ended o Move to vote Ø Passes unanimously Jimbo s True Seminole Tailgate o AD: was supposed to be sent out but didn t work, so we will go over assignments Ø 9-10: Dorman and Deviney, Cawthon, Ragans and Traditions Ø 10-11: Rogers and McCollum, Azalea and Magnolia, JRB, and Degraff Ø 11-12: BLG, Salley, Wildwood o Is October 21 st (this Saturday) o If you have a conflict, sgairhc account at least 48 hours in advance o Hall Council members can work multiple shifts, but extra points will not be awarded for it o Located at Organic Seminole Garden (between Wildwood and circus) o Absences may or may not be counted against you discretion of the ADR o Whole Hall Council is supposed to be there o SAACURH is an excused absence SAACURH T-Shirt Drive o If you have shirts, raise your placards and NCC will go around and see how many there are o Degraff: Was this the last time to turn in shirts?
