7 About the Contributors Niall Duggan is a lecturer in International Relations in the Department of Government, University College Cork. Since completing his Ph.D., Niall has worked as a Research Fellow at the Department of East Asian Politics, Ruhr-University Bochum, and as Professor of Modern Chinese Society and Economy in the Department of East Asian Studies, Georg-August-Universität G ottingen. His main research interests are Sino-African relations, China s foreign policy, emerging powers in global governance, role theory in international relations and non-traditional security studies. Maria Raquel Freire is researcher at the Centre for Social Studies and Professor of International Relations at the School of Economics of the University of Coimbra, in Portugal. She received her Ph.D. in International Relations from the University of Kent, UK, in Her research interests focus on peace studies, particularly peacekeeping and peacebuilding, foreign policy, international security, Russia and the post-soviet space. She has published several chapters and papers in refereed journals dealing with these topics. Mireia Paulo M.A. in European Politics, sinologist, EU-China analyst, lecturer to post-graduate courses and also pursues a Ph.D. project with the Department of East Asian Politics at Ruhr University Bochum, Germany. Mireia is currently based in Shanghai working as International Business Supervisor at Simon Electric (China). Her research focuses on the European Union and the People s Republic of China relations: economic and trade, financial services, environment, e-governance and civil society. Sotiris Petropoulos is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Departments of Political Science & International Relations and of Economics of the University of the Peloponnese, Greece. He holds a Ph.D. from Harokopion University of Athens, Greece, focusing on regional integration schemes in the developing world as well as

9 About the Contributors ix a M.A. in International Political Economy from Warwick University, UK. He has taught in several academic institutions in Greece in both undergraduate and postgraduate level. He has recently co-edited the book China and the World (Athens, Papazissis, 2014, in Greek). His articles have been published in international academic journals and edited volumes. Sotiris Petropoulos has worked for more than 5 years as an International Donors Senior Consultant at Ernst & Young. During the period, he has acted as Researcher/Head of Internship Programme of the Institute of International Economic Relations of Athens, Greece. Marek Rewizorski Ph.D. in the field of Political Science, lawyer, Assistant Professor at the Institute of History and Political Science of the Pomeranian University in Słupsk. Member of the Polish, British and European International Studies Association and the Polish Association of Political Science. He taught at the Institute of Political Science and Management at the University of Tallinn. The author of eight books, as well as more than 60 articles and studies in the field of International Relations. His recent publications include: From Washington to St. Petersburg. Development of the G20 as a New Centre of Global Governance published by Logos Verlag Berlin in Research interests: International Political Economy, global governance, G7/G20, BRICS, emerging markets, the EU institutional system, economic security. Johannes Dragsbaek Schmidt studied International Relations and Development Studies at Aalborg University, Denmark, and is currently Associate Professor in the Department of Political Science. He has held visiting research fellowships in Australia, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines and Poland and recently a Visiting Professor at the Institute for Political Economy, Carleton University, Canada. Recent involvement was concentrated on EU funded research about foreign policy in India and a Danish government funded project about Health and Education in Bhutan. He has a broad spectrum of research interests, varying from globalization and international division of labor to social and welfare policy and state regulations with a focus on East Asia, South-East Asia and South Asia. He also contributed to Brookings 2013 publication Think Thank 20: The G-20 and Central Banks in the New World of Unconventional Monetary Policy with a paper entitled Reinvigorating Growth Potential: Priorities for the Central Bank of Russia. Andrey Shelepov graduated from the Faculty of World Economy and International Affairs of the Higher School of Economics. He holds a diploma in economics with distinction. Aukje Van Loon is a Research Associate at the Chair of International Politics, Ruhr-University Bochum. She graduated from the Robert Gordon University (UK) with a B.A. in Communication with Modern Languages and from the Ruhr- University Bochum with an M.A. in European Culture and Economy. She is pursuing a Ph.D. at the Chair of International Politics, Ruhr-University Bochum with the emphasis of her research being on domestic politics in EU external trade policy. She also teaches courses in the fields of EU Foreign Policy and International Relations.
