1 Bid Guidelines 1. What should go in your bid? 1.1. A good bid would include the following: An Introduction An introduction to you and all the members of your bid, what team you are applying for, the intended role(s) of each member of your bid, the experience of each member in the bid relevant to each of these roles, a brief explanation as to why you want to run this team Expectations and approach Basic goals and aims What is the objective of your bid (other than to run a national team)? What do you envisage the team can achieve? How you plan to spread the word about trials Your communication strategy to advertise your trials process Team Selection Process and Season Plan Team Selection Process See Section 2 and Season Plan See Section Player Requirements Club training or tournament attendance with Club teams, likely conditioning work, likely throwing plans, any additional requirements should be outlined and approved by the NSB Players Meeting - It is advised that you hold a players meeting after the team selection process to outline what is expected from each of them throughout the season, to collect player contracts and to go through the season plan in full with them Team Management an outline of the hierarchy of the team s management and the roles of each member other than what is outlined in the National Team Policy document Health & Safety who in the team s management has First Aid training? If nobody is qualified then the IFDA will pay for First Aid training but this shall be outlined here Finances An outline of expected player payments and estimated costs, including a breakdown of tournament costs for the year this includes warm-up tournaments, fundraising, and kit Contact Details contact details of each member of the bid. and mobile

Team Selection Process 2.1 Team selection processes shall be coordinated by the Head Coach and may, subject to approval by the NSB, be based on any combination of the following: trials; tournament performance; international experience The Head Coach shall agree the main principles of the selection plan on their appointment by the NSB The Head Coach shall make a call for applications to the team from interested players in advance of the beginning of the selection process. As part of this call for applications, a request may be made of players for contact details of current or previous coaches or captains, in order that the Head Coach or selection panel may seek references about players in preparation for any tryout or selection meeting Trials The Head Coach shall ensure that adequate notice is given to all interested parties of the date, time, and location of any trials At least 21 days is adequate notice Announcements on the IFDA mailing list, on the IFDA website and on social media sites are acceptable methods of notification Where possible, trials for different teams should be coordinated in order to minimise disruption to Club affairs The Head Coach shall devise a structured trials process prior to the trial period and the NSB shall approve this process This trials process shall refer to the number of trials to be held and the structure of these trials, e.g. 2 weekends of trials with a morning and an afternoon session on both days of each weekend The proposed dates, times, and location of the trials, as well as the proposed selection panel (See Section 3), shall be submitted to the NSB for approval minimum 1 week before announcing trial plans publicly An example of this timeline can be seen below:

In the case of disapproval, the team organisers would alter their plans until they are adequate and approved by the NSB. The Appointment Each team shall be selected by a panel of Selectors appointed by the Head Coach and NSB A list of proposed selectors shall be provided for the NSB for approval prior to contact being made with the selectors. The trial process cannot go ahead without the NSB s approval of the selectors The Selection Panel should: As a group, have detailed knowledge of the player base under consideration Have previous high level experience Not be trying out for the team themselves Be available to attend the trial events and selection meetings Be drawn from a broad range in the Irish community Be independent from the Head Coach and Assistant Coaches Where it proves difficult to form a Selection Panel with acceptable personnel that fulfill all of these criteria, the Head Coach and NSB may find a compromise The identity of any Selector attending any trials or selection meetings should be made known to the players If additional selections are to be made at a later date, a Selection Panel shall be formed as before. It is encouraged that these Selectors be the same as the original Selectors.

4 3.2 Selection Panel: Responsibilities: Selectors should pick a team of an appropriate size to adequately compete at the intended tournament with due consideration to injuries, withdrawals and tournament conditions Enlarged squad prior to final team selection The Selection Panel may select an enlarged squad of potential team members prior to final team selection The Head Coach shall inform players of this scenario and provide a date by which the final team will be selected All players on this enlarged squad shall have the same status until the final selection Selecting players that are already members of another national team for the same tournament is highly discouraged Selecting players under the age of 18 for U23 squads in highly discouraged Final team selection At the conclusion of this selection process the Head Coach shall submit their proposed squad list to the NSB. Each selector should confirm, to the NSB, that this list is correct based on the decisions they made Upon confirmation of proposed squad by all selectors, it is the responsibility of the Head Coach to ensure that all Players are informed of their selection/non-selection to the team or enlarged squad The Head coach shall inform prospective Players that acceptance of a playing position on an Irish National Team implies acceptance of the terms of the Player Code of Conduct as per Appendix B The Head Coach should inform prospective players of the likely commitment required to play for the team. 4. Season Plan 4.1. The Head Coach shall include a proposed season plan in their bid, which shall be approved by the NSB In the proposed Season Plan, the Head Coach should outline their approach to the season, i.e. whether they intend to train monthly, bi-monthly, etc Should the NSB disapprove of certain parts of the season plan, they will work with the bidding party to refine their season plan The Season Plan should have minimal interference with the College and Club seasons Warm-up tournaments should be clearly highlighted for approval of the NSB Training locations are normally determined depending on the geographical makeup of
