This program is a core content, generic program intended as an entry level, or refresher, course for those seeking certification as a Provincial Offences Officer. 2 Background: The original M.D. Burgess And Associates Inc. program for Provincial Offences Officers training had its roots at the Ontario Police College, where Mike Burgess was a Provincial facilitator and co-author and advisory board member for the development and delivery to police officers in Ontario. The core materials and references of these programs have been maintained in these modules although the delivery methodology has greatly changed to a more highly interactive, experienced based and job specific product. Training Objective: M.D. Burgess and Associates Inc. recognized that the objective of this course is to focus on effectively preparing officers for frontline duties as M.L.E.O. s/p.o.o. s. Using this as a baseline as the ultimate goal of the what in this training, the how and why are then added. This is accomplished using interactive, scenario based methodologies once the skills are learned, recorded and demonstrated. Delivery Methodology Adults learn best when applying learned skills in real time. Exercises are incorporated into the online session followed by experienced based exercises. These include scenarios and experiences that highlight the verbal, non-verbal and body language components to communications. Online training is interactive through the use of phone call chats and correspondence. Evaluation Process Successful completion of the course will be evaluated by means of an academic exam and hand in assignments from the online portion, and subjective learning level evaluations by the facilitator. CORE COMPETENCIES AND COURT PREPARATION This course is aimed at Officers who requires training in modern compliance and enforcement methods.
