1 New Bedford man with warrant arrested for intent to deal drugs again At 1:10 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 16, members of the New Bedford Police Department narcotics unit were on patrol in the south end when they observed an individual known to have a warrant. In the process of arresting him for the warrant, police located narcotics in his possession. Hector Ruiz Diaz, 40, of 862 So. First St. Apt. 1S, New Bedford, was charged with possession of a class A substance with intent to distribute, possession of a class A substance with intent to distribute subsequent offense and wanted for a warrant. Dartmouth man arrested in New Bedford with narcotics, resisting arrest Members of the New Bedford Police Department narcotics unit were targeting street-level narcotics sales in the south end when they observed a suspected drug transaction between individuals in the area of 11 Viall Street. One of the individuals involved left the scene in a vehicle. When police attempted to stop the vehicle in the area of 951 Brock Ave., the car failed to stop for police and attempted to flee before finally coming to a stop.

2 After further investigation, police made the following arrests: Jose D. Medeiros, 49, of 16 Ash St., Dartmouth, was charged with possession of class A substance, conspiracy to violate drug laws, failure to stop for police, negligent operation of a motor vehicle and resisting arrest. Michael Flores, 20, of 14 McGurk St. Apt. 2, New Bedford, was charged with possession of class A substance with intent to distribute. The arrests were made at about 11:18 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 16. Two arrested for Wareham home invasion with bats, third suspect wanted by police UPDATE: Daniel Russ, the third home invasion suspect was placed under arrest by the Massachusetts State Police on Route 195 in Marion at 8:20 p.m. after a motor vehicle stop. He is being held on $100,000 cash bail and due in Wareham District Court this morning. On Tuesday, January 15, at about 5:10 p.m. Wareham Police officers Michael Phinney and James White responded to Choctaw Drive for a reported home invasion. At the scene a male victim reported that two males and a female had broken into the home, and began beating him with baseball bats. In addition to beating him, the men stole the victim s wallet which contained a large quantity of cash. A second victim was also struck several times by the suspects.

3 Wareham Police detectives began an immediate investigation and the suspects were quickly identified. Furthermore, detectives obtained arrest warrants for the three suspects on Wednesday morning at the Wareham District Court. Armed with the warrants, Wareham detectives, Bourne Police detectives, and troopers from the State Police Violent Apprehension Section arrested Katherine N. Greene, 30, of 31 Dry Cedar Swamp Road, Bourne, at her residence at about 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Shortly after, detectives arrested another suspect, Jeffrey Johnson, 24, at his residence 16 Catherine Court in East Wareham. A third suspect, Daniel Russ, 38, of Marstons Mills is still being sought. In addition to the arrests, detectives confiscated the weapons believed to be used in the home invasion. It should be noted that this incident was not random and the victims refused medical assistance. The two suspects were transported to Wareham District Court after being processed at police headquarters. All three suspects are charged with the following: 1. Home Invasion 2. Armed Robbery 3. Assault and Battery with a dangerous weapon (2 counts) Texting while driving leads to man s arrest in Holyoke On Jan. 14 at about 4:30 p.m., Massachusetts State Police Trooper Brandon Andrews was on patrol on Ingleside Street in Holyoke when he observed a Honda Accord stopped at a traffic

4 light and the operator texting on his cell phone. Trooper Andrews stopped the vehicle near the intersection of Northampton Street and Whiting Farms Road. Trooper Andrews determined the operator, JOSEPH GOGUEN, 23 of Chicopee had a suspended license and an active default warrant for operating after suspension. GOGUEN was placed under arrest, transported to the Northampton barracks for booking and held on bail at the Hampshire County jail pending his arraignment in Holyoke District Court. GOGUEN was charged with the following offenses; 1.) Send/Read Electronic Message; 2.) Operating Motor Vehicle with License Suspended, 2nd Offense; 3.) Warrant; and 4.) License not in Possession. New Bedford couple arrested with $1,300 in crack cocaine in Dartmouth As the result of an investigation, on Tuesday, January 15, 2019, members of the Dartmouth Police Department Detective Division arrested Jamen GREEN, 23, and Desiree Lee PRIOR, 33, both of New Bedford, on narcotics charges. As a result of the arrest, detectives seized approximately thirteen (13) grams of crack cocaine with a street value estimated at $1,300, as well as $1,757 in cash. Both GREEN and PRIOR were charged with possession with intent

5 to distribute a class B substance, as well as conspiracy to violate drug laws. In addition, PRIOR was charged with being a disqualified person in possession of defense spray. Detectives were assisted by members of the Bristol County Sheriff s Department Warrant Apprehension Unit. Massachusetts man arrested for Motor Vehicle Offenses, including texting while driving Yesterday at about 4:30 p.m., Trooper Brandon Andrews was on patrol on Ingleside Street in Holyoke when he observed a Honda Accord stopped at a traffic light and the operator texting on his cell phone. Wareham police arrest three for OUI of liquor Sunday night On Sunday around 6:00 p.m. Officers Aronson and Eric Machado arrested Eric Bedard, 40, of East Wareham following a motor vehicle stop on Cranberry Highway. He is being charged with, operating under the influence of liquor, reckless operation of a motor vehicle, and speeding. In addition, his passenger Rebecca Ballinger, 50, of no certain address was placed in custody for an active arrest warrant. Later, at about 7:00 p.m. Officers Aronson and Karl Baptiste arrested, John Lee, 23, of North Attleboro, for operating under the influence of liquor, possession of an open container in a motor vehicle, and operating to endanger. The arrest on Cranberry Highway, by Main Avenue was made after citizen reports of a vehicle that was driving erratically. Officers located and stopped the vehicle and after a brief investigation arrested the driver. About an hour later, officers were dispatched to Cranberry Highway by Wareham Ford for a motor vehicle accident. At the scene, officers observed two vehicles with heavy damage and it appeared that one of the operators was impaired. Two individuals were transported to Tobey Hospital with minor injuries. After an investigation, James F. Sacchetti Jr. 32, of Onset, (no photo available) was arrested and charged with operating under the influence of liquor, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, and marked lanes violation.

7 New Bedford man arrested for exposing himself while working as gas attendant On Saturday, January 12, at about 8:15 p.m., Wareham police officer Nate Aronson was approached on Main Street by three individuals who had observed a male exposing himself and committing a lewd act. The man was working as an attendant at Joe s Gas and Officer Aronson also observed the same activity upon his arrival within seconds. The male was placed under arrest and transported to police headquarters for processing. Abdelfadel Mziouak, 45, of New Bedford is being charged with two counts of open and gross lewdness. He is expected to appear in Wareham District Court on Monday morning. Two overdose at the same time at same North Front Street apartment On Jan. 10 at 8:07pm, New Bedford police officers responded to a report that a 38-year old male and 39-year old female had overdosed the same North Front Street apartment. Both received medical attention at the scene and were transported to St. Luke s for further evaluation. Thirty minutes later, New

8 Bedford police responded to another overdose at a Ruth Street apartment. These overdoses follow the worst overdose period in New Bedford so far in 2019 where four overdoses occurred over a 20 hour period last Tuesday and Wednesday. Three of the four overdoses were at the same South First Street address. At approximately 5:15 p.m. yesterday afternoon, Smokey entered Dartmouth Gas, where he presented a knife and demanded money and some smokes. After fleeing the scene with a little cheddah in his pocket and a couple packs of smokes to pollute his lungs, Smokey fled towards New Bedford on foot (and not in a 1977 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am with Sally Field by his side).
