11 Rationale for two Free-standing signs at 141 Aspen Drive The site accommodates two buildings: one houses the museum run by the Michel Natal Sparwood Heritage Society, and the other is the Visitor Information Centre, which is operated by the Sparwood Chamber of Commerce. Both groups lease portions of the site for their operations from the District of Sparwood, who own the property. Because of the different activities in each of the buildings, it is necessary that there be signage to distinguish that difference for the public. While there are opportunities to do so using other sign provisions in the Sign Bylaw (e.g. fascia signage, etc.), there are two main reasons why we are requesting that an additional free-standing sign is necessary: (a) we commissioned the creation of this sign for our former site, and it seems a waste to not use it for this site as well, given its utility and beauty; (b) this free-standing sign is more effective in communicating to those travelling along Aspen Drive where we are located.
