1 Dominican Republic Ministry of Foreign Affairs In accordance with Law No. 875 regarding visas, foreign nationals visiting the Dominican Republic must have in their travel document a visa issued by one of our consulates, except for nationals of countries with which the Dominican Republic has concluded agreements waiving the visa requirement and nationals of countries authorized to travel to the country with a tourist card, provided that the purpose of the visit is tourism. Definition: the TOURIST CARD entails payment of a tax levied by the Dominican Republic on visitors to our country. It can be obtained directly at the airport on arrival in the Dominican Republic. Some tour operators include the tourist card as part of their tourist packages. Busan, 2014)) General rules 1) All foreign nationals enjoying the right to enter the European Union, United States, Canada and the United Kingdom legally, may also enter the territory of the Dominican Republic on presentation of a tourist card only, in accordance with Decree of 18 December 2007, for purposes of tourism only. 2) All foreign nationals entering the Dominican Republic, either with a visa or a tourist card, must hold a valid passport that is valid for a minimum period and ensure that it remains valid for the entire period of their stay in Dominican territory. 3) All foreign nationals wishing to enter the Dominican Republic on business must obtain a business visa (single or multiple entry) at consular missions of the Dominican Republic abroad, even if they are nationals of a country on the list of those whose nationals can enter with a tourist card, as the latter may be used only for tourism. Business visas are issued by Dominican consulates in accordance with MIREX Resolution No of 7 February ) Visa applications will be received and authorized exclusively by the relevant department, in accordance with the current mechanisms, restrictions and procedures established by the Vice Ministry for Consular and Migrant Affairs. 5) Persons requiring a visa who are resident in a country that has no Dominican consulate must apply to the Dominican consular mission in the closest country where such a mission exists. 7
