2 The Russian Mafia The Russian Mafia has over 250,000 members from all round the world. The Russian Mafia Can be traced all the way back from 1700s. It was started as thievery and banditry. Russian criminal are active in : Fraud, Transnational money laundering, extortion, drug trafficking,weapon smuggling, auto theft, white slave traffic/prostitution, transportation of stolen property for export, insurance and medical fraud. Active in many parts of the Eastern europe and the former Soviet Union throughout Russia,Canada, Spain,France, Hungary, Portugal. I think i would rank them as the most powerful. I say that because they are still operating everywhere in the the global europe areas. Maybe more than la cosa nostra.?

3 Mexican Cartel (Sinaloa Cartel and Los Zetas The Zetas are a Mexican criminal organization, whose main business is in kidnapping, car theft, murder, extortion and drug trafficking. The Sinaloa Cartel is an international drug trafficking, money laundering and organized crime syndicate. The Sinaloa Cartel is based primarily in the city of Culiacan, Sinaloa,with operation in operations in the Mexican States of Baja California, Durango, Sonora, and Chihuahua. Unlike Any other drug cartels in Mexico, Los Zetas do not exercise total control over any port of the republic for the sole purpose of the drug trade, so they have been forced to strengthen their finances with practices such as kidnapping and extortion against the civilian population.

4 La Cosa Nostra The Sicilian mafia, also known as Cosa Nostra, is a criminal syndicate in Sicily, Italy. It is a loose association of criminal groups organisational structure, and code of conduct. The Mafia s core activities are protection racketeering, the arbitration of disputes between criminals, and the organizing and oversight of illegal agreements and transaction. They remain in power by protection racketeering and illegal agreements and transaction. They probably have corrupt people in the government. They move their materials by paying corrupt boat workers since they have a lot of wealth. Their criminal activities are international with members and affiliates in Canada, South America, Australia, and parts of europe.

5 YaKuZa They have a large presence in the japanese media and operate intertionally with an estimated over 100,000 members. In their own vision yakuza descends from honorable, robin-hood like character who defended their villages from bandits. Yakuza activity in the United States is mostly regulated to hawaii, but they have made their presence known in other parts of the country, especially in Los Angeles and the Bay Area, as well as San Francisco, Seattle, Las vegas, Arizona, Virginia, Chicago, and New York City. These violent criminals have left their fingerprint on many aspects of japanese life, from owly gambling and prostitution rackets to the halls of high-level political and financial

6 Triads A triad is one of many branches of Chinese transnational organized crime organizations based in Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan and also in countries with significant Chinese populations, such as the United States, Canada, Vietnam, Korea, Japan, Singapore, Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, the United Kingdom, Belgium, Netherlands, France, Spain, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand. Triad is a transnational criminal organization that is based in Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore among many other countries. There are currently four major Triads in existence: Wo Hop To, Wo Shing Wo, Sun Yee On, 14K (Sap Sie Kie) and Luen The new order has provided opportunities for triad leaders to gain access to the highest levels of political power.
