15 The Name: CAMPUSFRANCE is the name of the French Agency created in 1998 to promote French higher education CAMPUSFRANCE is the name given, after that of the Agency, to the 104 offices established throughout the world to fulfill that mission on the ground ( Espaces CAMPUSFRANCE )

16 The Context French campuses are highly internationalized France ranking 4th in the world for the number of foreign students it welcomes foreign students, representing 11,7% of the overall student population (Compare with the USA : , 3,9%)

17 The Mission In 31 countries, including the USA, these offices have been given a more specific mission (under the heading Centre pour les etudes en France / CEF), and have been mandated to : Provide information on studying in France Provide information and advise to students throughout their entire application process Dialogue with candidates via , manage pre-enrolment requests Help independent students choose a university or school Assess a candidate's academic suitability (independent students) Evaluate candidates' French-speaking skills when necessary Verify diplomas, certificates, and all documents presented by candidates. Inform the French Consulate of its conclusion

18 Who is affected by CAMPUSFRANCE in the USA? American students, or foreign students living in the USA who : would like to pursue higher studies in France and who plan on spending more than 3 months in France for their studies

19 How much does CAMPUSFRANCE cost? $60 for study abroad students $120 for students who are applying directly to a school in France (independent students) The visa application fee for students has now been lowered to 50 (for more information go to the French Consulate of your region's website)

20 A few practicalities for students from the USA The majority of students from the USA are study abroad students. That means : They are exempted of the assessment of their academic suitability (in particular no interview, no French language tests) They only pay $60 How to start? Go on the website ( create your own account Communicate with the CAMPUSFRANCE office through that account When to start : as early as possible, as soon as you plan to go and study in France
