1 Hamilton Citizen Survey Large Print DIVERSITY & INCLUSION COMMISSION We need your input! The City of Hamilton Diversity and Inclusion Commission was established in 2015 to study the internal and external barriers to diversity and inclusion and provide recommendations to Hamilton City Council on ways to break down those barriers. This commission consists of city residents and staff who are passionate about making Hamilton a more diverse and inclusive place to live, work, and play. You can diversityinclusion@hamilton-oh.gov for more information about the city s efforts and how you can get involved. This survey was developed by the Diversity and Inclusion Commission to encourage residents to think about the climate of diversity and inclusion in our community and any barriers preventing us from increasing diversity and inclusion in Hamilton. Your participation in this survey will help the Commission, Hamilton City Council, and Administration to better understand residents perceptions of the barriers so that we can explore solutions to breaking down these barriers when and where possible. Please remember that each of these questions refers to the climate of diversity and inclusion surrounding the topic of the question. Beneath each question are a number of factors that the commission thought might possibly be barriers. As you answer, please check those items that you believe create barriers. In addition, there is space under each question for you to identify additional barriers that you think are important for the Commission to consider. Diversity refers to the conditions of having or being composed of different types of people. Inclusion refers to values that involve people from different races, cultures, genders, classes, and abilities. It is not the same as tolerance. Page 1
