Record of Apologies: None A broad summary of discussions on the agenda followed at the meeting including 4. A statement that the group agreed the approach to meeting (values/principles) The facilitator outlined the agenda for the meeting to be held and the community planning process. The group agreed to approach the meeting in an open, inclusive and with an undertaking to value the principles of equality and inclusion in their work. 5. A broad summary of discussion on working group themes: There was a general consensus across the meeting that the working themes identified needed to be changed. The group agreed the re-working of the themes from: Partnership Active Citizenship (new) Shared space Inclusion (instead of Diversity and ethnicity) Communities of place (Neighbourhoods) Communities of interest (new) Community Infrastructure
4 6. A broad summary of discussion on strategy review: The group agreed that the current list of strategies could be added to. In particular the need to take into consideration if the strategies identified are inclusive of crosscutting themes. There was a view from some that the One Plan/Future Search is obsolete and should not be included in the list. The following strategies were also proposed for consideration: DCAL Language Strategy /NI Language Strategy Making Life Better (Health) Every Government Department will have their own Community Development Strategy Racial Equality Strategy All of OFM/DFM Strategies Community Relations Council Big Lottery Strategic Plan Joseph Roundtree Strategies Cross Border Strategic Context also needs to be considered European Regional Development Strategies Framework for Measuring Well Being (2015) Transforming your care Education Strategies Housing Strategies NI Volunteering Strategy DCSDC 1 year corporate plan 7. Broad summary of discussion on baseline statistics: The baseline information provides a comprehensive overview but it would be useful to have more specific information relevant to community development.
5 The Citizen Survey will be very useful and should form the baseline for the Community Development Theme. This survey will provide the most up to date information in relation to how citizens feel about services, accessibility etc and will be available late July 15. The Northern Ireland Household Survey needs to be included in the baseline stats. A key piece of work has been carried out by NICVA (state of the sector) this should be included. The Hate Crime stats from Good Relations/PSNI need to be included. Section 75 groupings under the Communities of Interest this data should be captured. Children and Young People Strategies were developed as part of the One Plan this should be included in the Baseline data. Education and deprivation statistics are a priority Rural statistics need to be evidenced to highlight pockets of deprivation. There is no specific language data Irish Medium Audience/Ulster Scots -important in respect of tailored services e.g. education. Statistics provided based on new Council area but also referred to old Council area? Statistics are primarily Urban focused. Need to ensure Rural issues are highlighted. Gateway to Protestant Participation Peace III Report. It would be useful to have the Statistics provide in a more usable format e.g. Graphs/Maps. 8. Any other key items of discussion: Youth should be an important Theme need to engage the Sector. Age Friendly/Disability should be included. There is an absence of the word inclusion. Language development should be highlighted. People should be highlighted i.e. older/younger/people with disabilities themes are very physical Social justice and Rural issues need to be highlighted. An updated on line community directory of all groups in the council area should be developed. 9. Outcome of the election of co-chairs:
6 Four names were put forward: Colin Devine Ciara Ferguson Peter Mc Donald Rekha Dromgoole An Election took place and Ciara Ferguson and Rekha Dromgoole were agreed as the Co Chairs for the Community Development Working Group. 10.
