24 ECMI is mandated by the Catholic Church in the Philippines to set up programs for the migrants in all the arch/dioceses down to the parishes nationwide. DIOCESAN MIGRANTS DESK / COMMISSION PARISH MIGRANTS DESK / MINISTRY

25 ECMI OVER-ALL FUNCTIONS As one of the service arms created by the Episcopal Conference (CBCP) 1. Shall develop and implement programs and services to the emerging issues and concerns of migrant workers and their families as stipulated in the PCP II as one of its pastoral concerns. 2. Shall assist the dioceses / parishes in the setting up of a pastoral concern for the migrants and their families corresponding programs development.

30 TALAKAYAN Derived from the Filipino word TALAKAYAN (discussion, exchange of views) and usapan (conversation, conference). Talakayan aims to inform and educate the families of Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) on the different emerging issues affecting the migrant workers and other related issues overseas through parish group discussions and other fellowship activities. Talakayan will also tackle in particular, rights and welfare issues of migrant workers and their families by inviting government and non government institutions to serve as resource persons. This program hope to achieve that the families of overseas Filipino workers are empowered enough to handle their situations needing immediate solutions, through application of knowledge acquired during the Talakayan.

31 DULUGNAYAN Derived from the Filipino word DULUGAN (recourse, a person resorted to for help or protection) and UGNAYAN (link up, relate, connect or coordinate with). The purpose of Dulugnayan is to facilitate or to assist migrant workers and their families as well as the returned migrants, on problems such as labor related issues through paralegal remedies and advocacy work, and family related affair through counseling. Dulugnayan will also link up and coordinate with other agencies both government and non government for free service assistance towards fast and easy resolution of cases. This program aims to achieve awareness mechanism activities particularly among possible migrants and the public in general. Such activities will deal with the realities of overseas employment excerpts from the actual experiences raised during the Dulugnayan.

32 UNLADSANAYAN Derived from the Filipino word PAG UNLAD (growth, progress, improvement or advancement) and PAGSASANAY / KASANAYAN (training, practical education / to become trained). Unladsanayan means to train people practical applications for their advancement and development. Unladsanayan s main concern is to support any skills training and human development formation programs in accordance to the various needs identified by the families of overseas workers and migrant returnees. Different formations and training assistances will be extended, enabling them to become responsible and productive partners of their family overseas, and the community society in general. Professional experts will conduct Unladsanayan activities.

38 Integration of Overseas Migration In the School Curriculum HOW TO USE THE MODULE Each module can be taught as integrated lessons starting at grade 4 up to 4 th year LEVEL in the SUBJECT AREAS of Social Studies and Values Education. There is a POINT OF ENTRY in the LEARNING COMPETENCIES where the CORE MESSAGES can be integrated.

Ihuhugis ang isang maunlad at mapayapang Pilipinas.

47 WE APPEAL Make this migrants apostolate a priority concern of your school. Integrate migration issue in the curriculum. Most importantly organize and set-up Anak (SDO) Formation Program in your school. To concretize action, appoint a focal person for this apostolate. Organize training for this purpose. Organize fora or symposia.

48 WE APPEAL Encourage students to write paper or thesis on migrants issue. Involve your students in practicum or apostolate work for the migrants. Conduct career orientation program on migration for the graduating students (high school or college) Conduct a dialogue or an encounter between migrant parents and their children.
