SECTION - III 14. What were the changes introduced by Lenin and Stalin in U.S.S.R. A: The Bolsheviks were led by Vladimir Lenin. Under his leadership Bolsheviks were able to win the confidence of the Soviets because they took up the demand for immediate and unconditional peace nationalisation of all land and its redistribution to the peasants and control over prices and nationalisation of all factories and banks. U.S.S.R. was set up 1924 by the Soviet government of Russia. After the death of Lenin in 1924, Stalin emerged to the leader of the communist party. He introduced Five Year Plans in This pursued the twin policy of rapid industrialisation and collectivization of agriculture. Cheap public health care was provided. The USSR achieved full employment during his region. It also managed to universalise Literacy and primary education. Thus USSR prided itself in escaping the impact of great depression due to their policies. Q: Integration of Princely States into the new Indian nation was a challenging task. Discuss. A: The very first challenge which came immediately after independence was the integration of princely states in to Indian Union. The integration Process was as usual not smooth and had various difficulties.

11 1) The 550 princely states were given freedom to decide their future. The ordinary people did not want princely states to continue. They started movements and revolts. 2) Guided by the masterful diplomacy of Patel, most of them acceded to India. 3) However the Nawab of Junagadh, the Nizam of Hyderabad and the Maharaja of J.K. didn't accept to unite with India. 4) The Nizam of Hyderabad wanted Hyderabad to be a country or to be a part of Pakistan. 5) Sardar Patel made it clear that if they do not join India, the army would have to be sent to complete the process of unification. 6) With the Military action Hyderabad, by the end of 1949, the work of integration of princely states had been completed. 15. It caused a decline in local fish production.

A: 1) Many lives were lost in world wars. 2) First World War saw 1 Crore casualties and Second World War 2.5 Crores. 3) Most of them were men under 40 years. 4) Both World Wars witnessed the usage of Chemical weapons even atom bombs. 5) If an atom bomb blasts accidentally, even it could cause heavier human loss. 6) We are living till that danger is looming large at us. 7) If a Third World War were to came, It would definitely cause greater loss to human race. Q: What steps would you suggest to maintain harmonious relations with neighbouring countries? A: To prevent World Wars, all the countries on the earth must follow the following steps. 1) The countries one and all should give up their attitude of aggressive nationalism. 2) Every country should be ready to disarmentation of herself. 3) All the countries should promise to stop the usage of nuclear and chemical weapons. 4) Every country should be committed to development not but to arms race. 5) Every country should respect the sovereignty and integrity of all other countries. 6) Every country should pledge to not to interfere in the internal affairs of other countries. 7) Countries must negotiate or go to international court of Justice in case of disputes but not to resort wars.
