Director's Message by Jason Edge Happy October! I am really glad that cooler weather has finally arrived and I can enjoy my 64 Coupe DeVille a bit more.

I have recently driven the car in our local Garner Fireman s Day Parade, and driven it in to work on nicer weather days. On Oct 19 and 20 I will be making a 3.

2 Director's Message by Jason Edge Happy October! I am really glad that cooler weather has finally arrived and I can enjoy my 64 Coupe DeVille a bit more. With the engine rebuild this past spring and the many other projects in progress, I have not had a chance to install the A/C and we have had some pretty hot days here in NC this past summer! I have recently driven the car in our local Garner Fireman s Day Parade, and driven it in to work on nicer weather days. On Oct 19 and 20 I will be making a 3.5 hr/200 mile trek over to Lenoir, NC with the 64 Caddy to meet up with the Carolina Region CLC which I have recently joined. That will definitely be the longest I ve driven her since the rebuild and will be good break in for the engine which still has less than 500 miles on it. Sept Stop-Over at the Renaissance in St Augustine, FL with parts car from Winter Haven This past month I was fortunate enough to spend a few more days at the Renaissance in St Augustine, which had hosted the Grand National this past year, on my way to pick up a parts car in Winter Haven, Florida. Our brief stay reminded me of the great time we had just a few months back and encourage all of our members to check out the information on the 2013 Grand National in Boston and book your rooms now! Me and my wife Cheryl will be there from July 27 to August 5 and hope to meet up with many of our chapter and CLC member friends. I have to say I am very pleased with our new website hosted by Ning.com and hope most of you have joined up and kicked the tires. Although there are many more new features provided than by Multiply at the old site, I think the learning curve is shorter on the new site and it is just plain easier to navigate around and post stuff! You will notice in the next section we have made some improvements to the website but also feel we should let members settle in to the new site before we consider any major changes. I do have a lot of content to add myself and encourage all members to also contribute. So if you have not joined in on the website fun, head over to join up and make yourself at home! Please keep in mind that I am always looking for member stories, pictures and other items to include in our newsletters. I know we will end up with a better newsletter if we all collectively pitch in and do really like to hear from all of you. If you leave it up to me you will end up with way too many of my crazy pictures and stories like the one of El Dude-orado sitting on top of the 63 Parts Car above. Jason.

3 Website Updates: New Features Recently Added to our Website Website Header and Appearance Changes While we do not want to make drastic changes to the new website, we are constantly making gradual improvements. For example we now include a picture of the Member Spotlighted Cadillac over on the right side of the website header. We have also added a couple of new page tabs that link to the new Help Topics and Parts Suppliers pages. New URL (website) names have also been added to make finding things on the website easier. New Help Topics Page As useful help topics are added to the website they are also being added to a new Help Topics Page which you can access from the website header tab or you can use the new URL link or simply help.6364cadillac.com. There is still a lot of new and old items to upload to the new site and this page will continue to be updated as good information is posted. Much of the information has been loaded by me, however I will and have linked to posts or useful content posted by others. The recent article on Cigar Lighter Fuse repair is a good example where a member posted some really good information that was then linked to from our Help Topics Page. I have a gut feeling this will be one of the most popular pages on our new site in time! New Parts Suppliers Page A new page has been created that lists out many of the known parts suppliers along with their contact information to help members quickly find those hard-to-find restoration parts. You can access the page by clicking on the page tab beneath the website header or you can use the new URL link or simply partssuppliers.6364cadillac.com. One of the good things about moving to the new website was that it forced us to do some house-cleaning. The parts supplier lists we had at the old site were really becoming out-dated with incorrect contact and other information. I attempted to verify, delete, update, and add to that list in building our new parts supplier list and believe we have a much more current and relevant parts supplier list to turn to. We also have several member sellers, including myself, and we are featured up top on the page. If you are an ongoing seller, or recommend other part sellers, please let me know via or on the website. NOTE for Parts Sellers and Members Looking for Parts: I encourage parts sellers that want to post something specific for sale to post messages, pictures etc, and title as Parts for Sale - and tag as partsforsale. For those looking for a part or parts I encourage you to post messages, pictures, etc and title them Parts Wanted -. and tag as partswanted. By using a tag without the space between words, it makes searching for these For Sale and Wanted items much easier as it filters out all the other posts that might have the words parts, for, and sale.

Chapter Status Our chapter became a provisional chapter in July 2010 and was approved for permanent status at the winter CLC Board Meeting in Jan 2012.

4 Chapter Status Our chapter became a provisional chapter in July 2010 and was approved for permanent status at the winter CLC Board Meeting in Jan Chapter Organization According to the Chapter Guidelines - "Chapters may have as many or as few officers, boards and committees as serve the needs of the chapter. Titles of the officers are at the chapter's discretion." Currently, I serve as Director and we have 3 officers: Gary Westfall, Alex Figueroa, and Jeff Kinzler. NOTE: If you have an interest in taking on a more active role in the club please contact me. I am always looking to enlist those that want to contribute more and put their skills to use in helping us grow the club. Chapter Membership MEMBERSHIP: Our current membership is at 189. Membership has grown steadily and would like to set a goal of 200 members by the end of this year. WEBSITE: Our New 63/64 Cadillac Website has had 398 members sign up since going public on August 9 th! FACEBOOK PAGE: We maintain a Facebook Page at that points anyone interested in 63 & 64 Cadillacs back to our main website and the Cadillac LaSalle website. We currently have 777 Facebook users that "Like" our page. NEW MEMBERS! 7 Chapter Shirts 1963/1964 Cadillac Chapter Shirts Gildan Ultra Cotton Pre-Shrunk Last year we produced our first batch of Chapter Shirts using our Official Club Design provided by Ray Bombeck for the back of the shirt, and a new design logo created by PKD Screen Printing, Inc out of Raleigh, NC, who are also producing the shirts. These are top quality "Gildan Ultra Cotton" pre-shrunk shirts. The color is ash grey which will go great with just about any color pants or jacket, especially a dark jacket or dark pants. These are being sold at cost + shipping with $1 added to cover shipping expenses. The cost for shirts sized S to XL is $15, the 2XL is $17 and the 3XL is $18. Adding Power Vent Windows by Jason Edge Power Vent Window Regulator/Motors Left Driver Side Arm Rest Switch Plate with Solid Front Top 64 DeVille Style Metal Door Plate Power vent windows are optional on Devilles and 62 series and only standard on the Eldorado and Fleetwoods. I converted my 1964 Coupe DeVille to Power Vent Windows some time back and have to say it is one of the more rewarding upgrades I have done to my Caddy. It is also a nice show off feature when you get around the old Dodge, Chevy, and Ford guys as their cars almost always have manual vent windows. The parts you will need to do this upgrade include: - power vent window motors/regulators as seen above - 6 way window switch and arm rest switch plates with cutout for 6 way switch for left/driver side, - extra 1 way switch on the right side and switch plate with the extra cut for 2nd window switch on right/passenger side - 8 conductor power window harness to replace the 6 conductor power window harness that includes, the additional 2 wires running between the power vent window switches. NOTE: I have read and am sure you could just run an extra pair of heavy guage wires instead of swapping out the entire power window harness, but I had the complete Left and Right 8 conductor Harness on hand when I did mine and replaced the wiring. Also for 1964 Cadillacs you will need to get the solid top-front door panel metal filler plate to replace the one with the hole for the manual handle as seen below: 1963 Right Passenger Side Arm Rest Switch & Door Plate with hold for Manual Vent Window Handle 1964 DeVille Right Passenger Side Arm Rest Switch Plate with 2 Switches and Top Front Door Plate For 1963 Cadillacs you will have a hole where the handle was before and will need to fill in and reupholster the opening. Below is an example 1963 Left side door panel showing the round hole for the manual vent window handle that will need to be recovered. Driver Side 6 Way Switch If you have all the parts I would say its a low-medium effort. You will spend most of your time getting behind the door panel, kickpanels and dash and fishing wires. It's definitely something you can over a few hours on a weekend.

This month I m including a picture of a Scooby Doo hearse sent to my by Mike Daly and a December 1963 Motor Trend Article on the new Turbo Hydramatic transmission. According to Mike, this hearse came out in 2006, I saw it in Wal-Mart back then and had to get it!
