2 overview 1450 AM history WDLB signed on the air on February 2nd 1947, and has broadcast continuously from the same location on North Central Avenue since the beginning. The Call Letters stand for Wisconsin s Dairy Land Broadcaster In 1976, an early Morning Farm Program debuted, hosted by Farm Broadcaster Les Leonard. Founded and owned by former ABC Executive Hartley Samuels, WDLB later became part of the Goetz Broadcasting family. The station was acquired by Marathon Media in the late 1990 s, then NRG Media in In 2006 WDLB was purchased by it s current owner, Seehafer Broadcasting of Manitowoc, headed by Marshfield Native and former WDLB Sportscaster Don Seehafer, and was later purchased and is now headed by Mark Seehafer. Now in it s 8th decade on the air, AM 1450 WDLB s brand is as identifiable today as it was in the beginning Marshfield s Hometown Station strives to serve the local community with a commitment to providing local news, sports, weather and information important to the residents of Marshfield and the surrounding area. 5 on-air personalities Kevin Jay Attoe started his long media career at one of Wisconsin s oldest Radio Stations, the former WIBU Poynette in After playing oldies and polkas for a year, he joined the staff at WIBA, in his hometown of Madison, where he anchored news, engineered Badger Sports broadcasts, and learned Radio from some of the best. Kevin s next stop was Janesville, where he had the privilege of assisting the startup of the former WMJB, eventually joining the radio staff of WOSQ/WDLB/ WLJY in the early 1990 s, where he remains today. Along the way, he s had stops at WREX-TV Rockford, WSAW-TV Wausau. and Preps On The Net High School Sports Network, as a Photojournalist. Kevin s passion is Music and the Media. Listen every Monday - Friday morning for Classic Hits, along with News, Sports, and Weather. Jeff Cannon was born and raised up the road in Wausau and is in his second tour of duty with Seehafer Broadcasting. The first from 1987 to 1994 in Wausau at WXCO and the then WYCO, The Great Y-108. Serving in capacities from Program Director to Morning Show host. Starting his on-air career in 1978 in Nebraska, after attending Brown Institute in Minneapolis Minnesota, he then came back to Wausau, then to New Hampshire, Green Bay (WDUX), Milwaukee (WTMJ), Branson, Missouri with Branson Music Network (Nationwide satellite Country Music DJ), Cumulus Media, Topeka, Kansas (Production Director) Kansas City, Entercom (KUDL) FOX 55, Wausau (Master Control Operator). Also winning awards for Commercial Production from the Kansas Association of Broadcasters and Wisconsin Broadcaster Association. Gene Delisio is a native of Rockland County, New York, and a graduate of Spring Valley Senior High School. He came to the Midwest to attend UW-Milwaukee, where he earned his B.A. in Mass Communication, and he also has a Masters Degree in Communication from UW-Stevens Point. Gene worked as the Sports Director at WCBY in Cheboygan, Michigan, WIVQ in Lasalle-Peru, Illinois and WRHL in Rochelle, Illinois before joining the staff of WDLB in Gene and his wife Pat, and their Shih-tzu Paddy live in Stratford, and both are active in St. Patrick s Church in Halder. Gene is a member of the Society of American Baseball Research, and part of the Marshfield Tiger Athletic Hall of Fame selection committee. He is also a member of the Tiger Hall of Fame, as well as the Marshfield Softball and Baseball Association Hall of Fame, and the Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame. In his spare time, Gene enjoys researching central Wisconsin sports history, and watching his large collection of silent films. Mike Warren serves as News Director for WDLB/WOSQ/WFHR/WLJY, and has been employed with the Marshfield stations since the fall of 1992, after graduating from the National Broadcast Institute in Las Vegas, NV. Besides covering and gathering local news and events, and anchoring daily newscasts, Mike also serves as a play-by-play announcer for local sporting events from throughout central Wisconsin, covering primarily the Cloverbelt and Marawood Conferences. Mike is also a member of the Marshfield Area Chamber of Commerce and Industry s Ambassador Club known as the Redcoats, and serves on MACCI s Crystal Apple Awards Selection Committee, recognizing outstanding teachers in central Wisconsin. He also donates his time serving as emcee for many local community events and banquets throughout the year, and enjoys volunteering at many of those same events. Mike is also a regular volunteer for the Home-delivered Meals program at the hospital in Marshfield. Mike is a native of Spencer, WI and is a 1991 graduate of Marshfield Senior High School, and resides in Marshfield. He is an avid fan of the Green Bay Packers, and enjoys traveling to many of their games.
