We offer opportunities throughout the News, Creative Services, Local Integrated Media, Huan Resources and Sales departents. Positions relate to sales, sales/research, creative services, news channel 4, news channel 52, digital edia, and huan resources, to nae a few! We provide college students with the opportunity to showcase their any talents and allow and KVEA to identify high potential talent for future staff hiring as well as YOH associate eployees and the NBC Page progra. and KVEA look for students who are coitted to a career in edia/broadcasting through experiences in their ajor studies, college clubs/organizations, prior edia based internships or prior edia work experience. Grade point average, counity service, and leadership experience are also an iportant part of the total assessent of student applicants. and KVEA work closely with local out of state colleges and universities to build an active internship training progra. During the current Annual Reporting year, a total of 126 Interns have participated in the Internship progra. The progra is offered during the Spring/Suer and Fall seesters and is designed to accoodate a student's school schedule. Students receive college credit. Each internship period usually lasts two to three onths. Ea Bowen Foundation for Minority Interests in Media and KVEA is a proud sponsor of the Ea Bowen Foundation. The Ea L. Bowen Foundation was established by the edia industry to help increase access to peranent job opportunities for inority students. The Foundation's progra is unlike other intern progras in that students work for a partner copany during suers and school breaks fro the end of their junior year in high school until they graduate fro college. During that five-year period, students have an opportunity to learn any aspects of corporate operations and develop copany-specific skills. Students in the progra receive an hourly wage, as well as atching copensation to help pay for college tuition and expenses. Mentoring fro selected staff in the sponsoring copany is also a key eleent of the progra. During the suer seesters, Ea students rotate in various and KVEA departents while gaining experience in every aspect in edia. The progra encourages the developent and evaluation of the student s copetences with the following: Copetence Model Internship Progra. This progra offers interns real world experience while becoing failiar with Teleundo's organization and work style. Through this internship students help to coplete special projects, while they bring fresh perspective to Teleundo by showcasing their any talents. Students have an opportunity to learn any aspects of corporate operations and develop copany-specific skills. Mentoring fro Teleundo selected staff is also a key eleent of the progra. 11 News Early Career Progras participates in three progras for News graduates and early career professionals. First, the NBC Owned Television Stations News Associate Progra has a curriculu designed to attract recent college graduates fro diverse backgrounds to careers as producers, editors and writers. There was one News Associate assigned to and throughout the year, she was able to learn first-hand the different news roo roles and responsibilities, acquire editorial judgent, develop story-telling skills and gain invaluable experience both in the field and studio. Additionally, partnered with AAJA-LA to offer an AAJA Fellowship. The fellowship is awarded to print or broadcast professionals with ore than five years of experience in a fast-paced newsroo environent. This was an Online Media Training Fellowship, which was a rigorous three-onth training progra designed to affiliate experienced edia professionals with a fast-paced professional online news environent. The fellow spent three onths working at with the nbcla.co tea. Finally, s Editorial Assistant progra is for recent journalis graduates to work in the newsroo for a year. The Editorial Assistants work closely with the news producers and on air talent to assist in the sealess execution of all news products. Daily responsibilities include working with producers on scripts, supporting the nbcla.co tea to provide broadcast content on the web, and pulling tape that reporters require for their daily news packages. Nuber of participants during the reporting year: 8 Internal Skills Enhanceent Progras Eployees of the stations are provided with training and developent opportunities designed to enhance their ability to assue positions of greater responsibility. Various progras are provided via external vendors and internal NBCUniversal-sponsored progras. Station eployees participated in the following developent/leadership skills courses: Leadership Essentials, Engaging Teas, Positive Workforce Leadership, Developing Business Leaders, and Leading a Creative Enterprise. NBCUniversal's diverse eployee population is reflected in our affinity groups. These voluntary organizations focus on the professional developent of their ebers by creating opportunities for coaching, entoring and networking with eployees and senior anageent. In addition, they are a ajor force in driving recruitent and retention of top talent in the organization. Participation in these groups is open to all eployees.
